TDOU Builds Capacity of Member OPDs on Leadership, UNCRPD, and Human Rights

Tigray Disability Organizations Union (TDOU) has continued its work to strengthen the capacity of member Organizations of Persons with Disabilities across Tigray.
As an umbrella union representing 15 member OPDs and more than 150 zonal and district-level branches, TDOU recognizes that strong member organizations are essential for effective disability rights advocacy and inclusive development.
Through its capacity-building work, TDOU has supported member OPDs with training on leadership, organizational and program management, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, national electoral laws, human rights, and transitional justice.
These trainings are designed to help member OPDs better represent the priorities of persons with disabilities, engage with public institutions, and advocate for rights-based services and policies.
TDOU’s capacity-building approach is guided by the principle of “Nothing About Us Without Us.” By strengthening OPDs directly, the Union helps ensure that persons with disabilities are not only included in discussions, but are active participants in decisions affecting their lives.
